Group Facility Administrator – Chronic And / Or Acutes
REPORTS TO: Regional Operations Director or Division Vice President
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: This position manages the overall operations for nursing services and patient care at two or more DaVita hemodialysis facilities (chronic) including but not limited to financial management, quality assurance and patient care, safety, risk management, teammate satisfaction, quality index scores, facility maintenance, and other required duties that may arise during the general operations of the facility. This position assures the safe, therapeutic nursing management of the End State Renal Disease patient (ESRD).
NOTE: The Group FA typically manages a chronic dialysis facility as Facility Administrator as well as oversees the activities and performances of other designated Facility Administrators/ Assistant Facility Administrators and their facilities. This position may also have responsibility for one or more acute programs within region and oversee the functions detailed in the Acute Facility Administrator job description. Full supervisory and management responsibilities for designated Facility Administrators and all teammates within assigned facilities or acute programs including but not limited to recruitment, hiring, teammate relations, performance and professional development, mentoring, annual reviews, salary increases, and terminations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive.
- Plan, organize, and supervise nursing, technical, and biomedical teammates to ensure high quality patient care according to company policy
- Maintain a liaison relationship between the designated facilities and ROD
- Know, understand, follow, and implement DaVita patient, employment, and teammate policies and procedures
- Drive clinical and operational outcomes
- Ensure that compliance and audit requirements are met
- Achieve productivity ratios as well as budget targets for operational goalst hrough the use and/or implementation of the appropriate tools
- Develop improvement plans for outliers
- Support market development and growth
- Develop strategic growth initiatives as needed
- Support the integration process of acquisitions within the region as needed
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by ROD and/or DVP
- Travel required: up to 50% depending on region
Financial Management:
- Participate in budget formulation and monitor SWCs, scheduling needs, and patient load
- Assist designated Facility Administrators with budget management
- Oversee inventory management including purchasing, product selection, and supply use
- Ensure patient and treatment charge information and other related data are accurate and submitted to the DaVita Corporate Office in a timely manner
Oversee Patient Care Management:
- Oversee nursing and technical services for patient treatment and ensure that appropriate adjustments in treatment plans are developed, implemented, and meet compliance with state and federal governing agencies
- If Group FA is not a registered nurse (RN), work collaboratively with designated manager/ supervisor of nursing services to manage patient care services according to state-specific guidelines
- Maintain communication and continuity of planned care when a patient is transferred to other DaVita facilities
- Ensure development and implementation of policies, procedures, and resources to help patients assume responsibility for their own health maintenance
- Maintain open communications with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care
- Create, implement, and administer policies, procedures and resources to ensure safe,appropriate treatment of patients
- Develop rapport with patients and manage patient concerns appropriately
Teammate Management:
Provide leadership to direct reports
- Help direct reports overcome any organizational obstacles encountered
- Know, understand, implement, follow, and communicate to teammates all DaVita employment policies and procedures, awards, and other opportunities within company and foster a positive work environment
- Ensure all DaVita employment processes are completed timely and in compliance with DaVita policy and any applicable laws including but not limited to ePCNs, Performance Development Reviews, teammate personnel file maintained, etc.
- Facilitate teammate development to ensure teammates meet or exceed expectations (PDRs, coaching, mentoring, DaVita training, outside training);collaborate with direct reports to create professional development goals
- Maintain familiarity with and communicate to teammates DaVita programs impacting teammates (including but not limited to: Triple Crown, We Are Here,tuition reimbursement programs, Foundations, etc.)
- Manage all teammate employment activity such as hiring, promoting, job performance,evaluations, teammate relations and disciplinary actions with appropriate approvals as required to maximize efficiency of facilities or programs
- Provide work direction for nursing, technical, office, and biomedical teammates
- Determine staffing plans that promote the most effective use of all teammates
- Address teammate relations issues appropriately and escalate as necessary
- Ensure comprehensive onboarding processes are completed timely to ensure new teammates receive the appropriate training and support to effectively understand department, computer systems, role, and company policies,procedures and compliance standards
- Manage all teammate employment areas including recruitment, hiring, promotions, job performance evaluations, professional development, teammate satisfaction surveys,teammate relations, disciplinary actions, compensation, and terminations with appropriate approval from the Regional Operations Director and/or People Services Director/Manager
- Maintain teammate records to include written performance evaluation of all staff;all records must be kept in compliance with DaVita policy and any applicable laws
- Know, understand, and apply basic wage and hour laws, federal, state and local laws and regulations including Medicare and legislation affecting employment in dialysis and nursing services
- Develop and maintain educational programs to keep teammates up-to-date on nursing practices, universal precautions, worker/patient safety, etc.
- Know, understand, communicate, and follow DaVita policies and procedures through updated written manuals and in-service education including but not limited to safety,security, and employment policies and procedures
- Ensure all required teammate licensures are current
Risk Management/Quality Assurance Compliance:
- Assist with the preparation of data summaries for internal audit purposes
- Ensure compliance with DaVita policies and procedures in accordance with State and Federal Regulations for patient care and services (HIPAA, CMS, OSHA, or other governing agencies)
- Ensure compliance with State or Federal Regulations of the Injury Prevention and SafetyTraining Program
- Assist with the creation and implementation of any corrective action needed as a resul tof internal or external quality assurance or as required by Medicare, OSHA or other governing agencies
- Report and document all teammate injuries according to established policy and procedures
- Participate in quality assurance program with Regional Operations Director and Quality Assurance Coordinator according to DaVita policy
Facility/Equipment Management:
- Ensure equipment and supplies are maintained to provide quality care and to ensure the safety of patients and staff
- Identify and plan prompt corrective action for any issues with building safety or equipment and systems
- Participate in the development and periodic revision of policies and procedures with the Regional Operations Director/Medical Director to ensure consistent, efficient and safe operation of the facility
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education, licenses, certifications, and experience required to fulfill the essential duties, include computer skills as required.
- Associate’s degree in related field required; Bachelor’s degree in related area strongly preferred
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse within state of employment preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in management required; minimum of 2 years’ experience in healthcare management preferred; experience with multi-site management preferred
- If Group FA is RN, then minimum of one (1) year’s work experience as RN required
- Minimum of six (6) months’ ESRD experience required; minimum of two (2) years ’experience in dialysis preferred
- Current CPR certification required
- CNN certification preferred
- Other qualifications and combinations of skills may be considered at discretion of ROD and/or Divisional Vice President
- Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
- Ability to use all required computer systems of DaVita including but not limited to Outlook, SNAPPY, DUCK, etc. within 60 days of hire or promotion required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical requirements can vary. These must be reviewed with management. However, in general, the position requires the following physical activities:
- Ability to lift minimum of 5 pounds to a maximum of 25 pounds unassisted; able to perform repetitive standing, sitting, stooping, walking, stretching, reaching, and use full range of body motions.
